Its probably time to use telnet to the smtp port to diagnose.
A site we deal with was showing this problem. Their customised mailer
appeared to be doing spam control by dropping the connection after RCPT TO
is they didn't approve of the sender/recipient. No reply code was
given....
We have persuaded them to fix it, but other people may make the same
mistake.
