Well, it was called "MTA" in the 1960's song, but maybe that was because
an extra syllable wouldn't fit the metre :-)

It's clearly very confusing! Does it matter? Probably not.

I've just had a quick look at the RFC. Most unlikely, because of the way
Exim is implemented. Because it has no central process, it has no
central repository of statistics. I suppose you could write a freestanding
program that monitored the Exim log and computed the statistics from it
and then presented them appropriately for SNMPv2. I'd be happy to put
such a thing on the ftp site if anyone wants to write it.
