There are too many exim-specific options, and it's just easy to
see the explanation while editing the Makefile.

I just see what the usual output of --help is.

I often want to change something.

In Exim's configuration scheme, those aspects are hardcoded into
the files in the OS directory. Under GNU configure, they are
detected by compiling small programs and running them.

Ok, enough holy wars on this subject for me... Vi against Emacs,
anyone?
