Yes.

His mail server must send ETRN #domainname .

The biggest problem with NT machines is that they send their Microsoft
NT Domain name as the argument for the HELO / EHLO. It is very common
for this name to contain an underscore, which breaks the SMTP dialogue.

If your customer is using Microsoft Exchange Server to send you the
ETRN, then have a look at http://www.msexchange.org/ . Use the "Search
Archives" link to search for ETRN.
