We're pretty safe in assuming that the grumble was because of my rude
tone. I wasn't in the best frame of mind and shouldn't have been

Having said that, a comment in the configure file mentioning the documentation
might reduce the number of queries of this nature. I don't believe such
a comment _should_ be necessary, but it's a toss-up between fewer
support queries and purity. :-)
