funnily enough I was thinking just the same thing yesterday; if things were
shared libraries it'd really help the OS reduce unwanted space, because then
modules would only be loaded if actually invoked (at least thats what I
recall).
rhetorically:are there any (decent) OSs which don't properly support shared
libraries these days.
what'd be really neat is if Exim became multi-threaded, stop all that forking
off daemons and thus become much more efficient. however, this would also
reduce robustness to some extent?
