You are correct, and there is a possible problem here. I've read the
manual, and it does say so explicitly. Sorry about that. I seem to be
having a bad day today... I have now read the code more carefully, and
spotted something that I missed. The code also appears to attempt to
behave as the manual says. Are you using Exim 2.02? (I forget if you
said, sorry.) If you are, then I will try to reproduce your problem and
fix it.
