We do this (for a different reason). Look at ':defer:' in the aliasfile
director section in the manual (p125 in the Exim 1.90 manual). We perform a
little bit of fiddling with the envelope rewriting so that messages are
deferred still with the domain name of 'plymouth.ac.uk' (in our case). When
they are 'released' they re-enter the system and pick up their correct
envelope-to address. It's helped us out enormously :-)
