The easiest solution would be to get rid of the load balancer. Just have to
MX records with the same priority and the DNS does the load balancing for
you. I can't see the need for the load balancer for email.

I had a different problem not to long ago, and Philip made a patch for exim
implementing the option "hosts_treat_as_local". This option could help you.
I am not sure whether the patch is in the newest beta. Please have a look.
If you can't find it I can send you the patch.
