That was it! Much thanks to those who responded to me directly.
My configuration, as previously stated, had *not* been changed. All
my previous successfully delivered mails had been going out with a
`MAIL FROM: <mike@lotusland>' as a result of `qualify_domain =
lotusland' in my configure file. I can only assume that something
has been changed at my ISP with respect to Exim and sender
verification and/or domain qualification. Indeed I don't know how
long they've been using Exim.
My configure file now has `qualify_domain = lotusland.demon.co.uk'
and everything is fine once more.
