Isn't the best thing to do here to have a (system) filter option "archive"
which is pretty much like "save" except that:-
1. It only archives a message once (not once per time through
the filter).
2. The out of band information is also saved - ie envelope
and other info stashed by exim such as the invoking user.
An informational header could also be added at the same time (need a
add-header filter option maybe so it can be tailored).
This allows easy tailoring of
1. what you save (arbitrary decisions based on
to/from/subject/length/headers/encryption)
2. where you save (mailboxes per user/subject/date etc)
Encryption/compression could be done in a transport but might be better to
stash stuff in straight files initially and then post process them daily.
Maybe you just put your mail archive store on WO storage.
