I'm toying with the idea of using exim as a generic queue manager for
a distributed printing system. Since exim's job is to carry around
data files reliably with flexible header information attached and make
routing decisions and callouts based on that header information, it
does most of what the underlying gory bits of a printing system need
to do.
What I need to know is whether exim
(1) can handle mail bodies containing binary data (unencoded) in the
sense that any ASCII character can appear (NULs included) and
(2) can handle (reliably and efficiently) mail bodies where the length
of a "line" may be very long (e.g. 50MB if a large file to be printed
doesn't contain many LFs for some reason).
Can anyone oblige?
