Darn!

Mail from our VMS systems (correctly only puts in a Sender line if it
would be distinct from a From. It then passes the Sender-less message
off to the host running exim for, among other things, From line
rewriting. I would like to have a trace of the original username in
the header, but can live without it.

Yup, it would be difficult to specify the rule in general. For my
situation, I would be ok, since I only don't have a Sender line if
it would be the same as the From. That won't happen when there are
multiple addresses on the from line. But I see your point.
