I wanted to thank the help you gave with the Exim Compilation. It was
succesful. Although on the following configuration steps I got trouble:
After the compiling stuff.
1. Is it suppose to just do "make install" after edit the
configure.default on Exim-1.90/src/ path? What are the common values?
2. I am a newbie building user accounts and group accounts. I suppose I
have to create a USER_ID and GROUP_ID that matches with the one I used on
the EDITME template on Exim-1.90/src? How do I do that? Did I have to do
it before the building process?
I used the following ID'S :
USER_ID = 24
GROUP_ID = 24
3. I have read that EXIM DOES NOT put it in general use. The name by which
the system message transfer agent is called by mail user agents is
"/usr/lib/sendmail", and it is necessary to make this name point to the
"exim" binary in ordet to get them to use it.
HOW DO I DO THAT? just renaming /usr/lib/sendmail with
/usr/exim/bin/exim ?
WHICH IS THE MAILER DAEMON? it says I have to stop it and restart
it.
4. I made "make install" then I tried to test exim with the
exim -v -bt rriley command
and I've got the follow error message:
LOG: 0 MAIN PANIC
system_aliases_director: failed to open /etc/aliases for linear
search. No such file or directory.
rriley@ cannot be resolved at this time.

I am using SLACKWARE 3.4. I didn't install sendmail at all.
