Subject: [EXIM] duplicates and the logs that show them...
Ok, here goes nothing...

I recentaly began running mailinglists.org with exim instead of sendmail.

mailinglists.org is a virtual domain that rides on firehouse.net. Today, I
moved a bunch of machines around, and in so-doing, had the power off of the
main machine for a while.

When I restarted the machine, it started duplicating a bunch of mail. Here
are the relavent headers:

--SNIP--

Note that the only difference is the next-to final delivery queue-id (and time
stamp) [highlighted above].

In the log for 0yJkK9-0002a6 I find this:

<bsdi-users@???> D=majordomo T=address_pipe
1998-03-30 21:15:10 0yJkK9-0002a6-00 Completed

It would seem that EVERY TIME a "Spool file is locked" was generated, it had
fired off another copy to the mailing list.... this is (obviously?) not good.

When I look for the queue-id of the final delivery (in this case 0yJogl-0001Fg
and 0yJn4G-000067), they show the delivery to each recipient on the list, with
that queue-id having been generated about 3 minutes before the "Spool file is
locked" message.

This behavior occured on multiple lists, and is driving my customers (the few
I have) crazy. This never happened when running sendmail... I love exim to
death as far as speed goes, but the dupes have GOT to go...

Any ideas?
