Hi:
I'm also running RH5.0, and during my first compile, I too got these very same
errors. I don't remember precisely what I did to overcome them, HOWEVER, from
doing an "nm" accross my lib directories, I see this:
/usr/lib/gcl-2.2/unixport/saved_gcl:0810ba00 T dn_expand
/usr/lib/gcl-2.2/gcl-tk/gcltkaux:08026760 T dn_expand
/usr/lib/libresolv.a:res_comp.o:00000000 T dn_expand
/usr/lib/libresolv_p.a:res_comp.po:00000010 T dn_expand
That reference to libresolv.a sounds promising, and rpm -qf yields this:
lsmtsrvr1:~$ rpm -qf /usr/lib/libresolv.a
glibc-devel-2.0.5c-10
Therefore, I'd make sure I've installed glibc-devel-2.0.5c-10. You can check
that with rpm -q glibc-devel. If it's not installed, the gun is smoking.
(I might also note that yp_match is also in libnsl.a, also installed by
glibc-devel-2.0.5c-10.rpm!)
If this is the solution, could you repost that this is correct, that RedHat 5.0
users need to make sure that they've installed glibc-devel-2.0.5c-10 so that
Philip can add it to the README file re RedHat 5.0?
Good luck. Write me if you have more questions re this issue, and I can do
some more research.
Mark
