Exicyclog isn't supposed to change the protection of anything. However,
when it moves the current log out of the way, a new one will be created,
and presumably this is what is happening.

Look in src/EDITME:

# LOG_DIRECTORY_MODE=0750

# This value is used only when Exim creates the directory for itself.

# The log files themselves are created as required, with a mode that defaults
# to 0640, but which can be changed here.

# LOG_MODE=0640
