I've heard from our sister company in Canada.

Apparently Exim build the response to HELO on the fly, and if the machine
is loaded heavily, it means CC:Mail will not get the whole response in a
single read. However, CCMail is broken and expects it all in one go
and throws a wobbly.

There's a hack about to make it work, which is basically to build the response
into a buffer so that it's written in one go; the chances of it being
fragmented into multiple IP datagrams is practically zero, and thus CC:Mail
is made happy.

Sigh.
