[Sorry for perpetuating this thread (under a new name), but I just wanted
to clarify things a little]
For the "experienced" list members (I currently belong to something like
100 separate active lists and a few inactive ones), the [EXIM] subject tag
is superfluous, as is the tail line. They are intended for those who are
not on every list under the sun, and who are not really used to managing
lists (hence the hint at the bottom as to where to find information to get
off the list).
If you want to filter this list, then there are a number of ways to
identify the mail from it:-
1. There are 2 headers added to each post:-
X-mailing-list: <exim-users@???> archive/latest/1601
X-loop: exim-users@???
These should only appear on messages that have been through the list
processor. [The number on the archive ref will change]
2. The envelope sender address should always be
exim-users-request@???
This may appear as a From_ line, X-From:, Sender: or Return-Path:
depending
on the system you use receive mail.

I'd agree with that, except some people just don't get that much mail and
work with a system which only has something like a single pop box.

Middling, I'd say. Nothing like linux-kernel or firewalls, but not bad.
Odd traffic pattern as well - very biased to European weekdays (could even
be described as Philip's waking/working hours), unlike most other lists
which are more US time based and tend to be as busy if not busier at
weekends. Suggests our (noisy) subscribers pretty much all read at work
and are working as opposed to students. [and thats without looking at the
list demographics]
