Yes, that is normal behavior for sender_verify_fixup. Try to have exim
resolve the name before the rewrite like so.

sender_verify
sender_verify_fixup
sender_verify_reject
headers_sender_verify

This will check that the SMTP sender resolves and if that resolves, a
rewrite is done if needed.
