Well there are 2 basic differences....
The first is that I have quoted the complete transport definition, so
there are a batch of additional options (such as needing to change the
prefix - which you need to do for a maildir format).
The second is that we hash on the *last* 2 characters of the username -
the first three characters we use for a user classifier, so they have
relatively small variation. Hence user abcdefgh will have his maildir as
/var/spool/mail/msgs/h/g/abcdefgh
