Subject: Is this a new record?

After sendmail fell over for the umpteenth time on our main eastern mail
server someone finally convinced the higher ups to let us try exim on
the box, based on our claims of improved efficiency and reliability on
the west coast mail server. The east server is a dual processor sparc 20
with 512 meg of ram. With sendmail it ran a load average of 20 for most
of the day. It also handles all the pop mail service for the users it
delivers mail to (37000) The load average with exim was 2 - 10 depending
on other load. There are still some performance issues to be addressed
on the box but I have been told that they now want to make exim the
company standard.

Here's the stats for exim's first day on the job.

Exim statistics from 1997-05-12 17:26:11 to 1997-05-13 17:12:57
