I presume you mean "-bd -q" there? If you really did type -bp then it
wouldn't have tried delivery. This is actually a minor bug in Exim. It
should complain that -bp with -q is a nonsensical combination. I will
fix that.

If -bp is just a typo in your message, then I'm mystified.
