In order to stop the new messages from being queued, you need to set the
retry time lower. If you look at the retry rules in configure, there is
(or should be) enough flexibility there that you could set local
delivery retrys to every 30 seconds or so in order to prevent this
problem in the future.

On a similar note, is it normal to have a wait-smtp database pag file of
12 meg?? Our main host's wait-smtp file is only 1 Meg but the one on
one of my other machines is 12M.
