} exim can be configured to be quite picky.  In that case, it will
} refuse to accept mail from any address that it can't find a route back
} to.  I suppose this normally means do a DNS lookup, and try to find a
} valid MX or address record corresponding to the MAIL FROM.  I don't
} know if exim goes any further to verify.

On thing to watch... if sender_verify is used (or sender_try_verify), then
*local* addresses that don't work get rejected. For example I put
together some code on a box yesterday which was sending out messages from
smsgate@???.
Our central mail system, which handles theplanet.net, had no alias or user
for smsgate, and so the box was unable to send messages to local users!
