Gecos field regex - ignored?

Hi,

I'm new to regex and can't figure out how to use them in order to get
my From/Sender fields correct.

I tried the following, which I *think* is correct, but it has no effect...

gecos_name = "$1"
gecos_pattern = "^?\,^?"

I found I could put anything in gecos_name and it has no effect...

Could someone please help?
