Subject: Exim and X.400 addresses

Since moving Exim into production we have noticed a problem with some
X.400 style addresses - which I hope someone on the list can shed some
light on....

The log entry we get is

1996-10-10 15:24:52 0vBM2d-0001em-00 <= "DSSTR1::MARIO"@???
                    H=sun2.mhs-relay.ac.uk [128.86.8.35] P=smtp S=1531

1996-10-10 15:24:52 0vBM2d-0001em-00 ** /I=g/G=g./S=desogus/@???: unknown
                      local-part "/i=g/g=g./s=desogus/" in domain "ic.ac.uk"

and the headers for the message is...

Remote sender: <"DSSTR1::MARIO"@???>
Recipients:
    /I=g/G=g./S=desogus/@???

First off - I don't understand why sun2.mhs-relay.ac.uk is giving the
Recipient as /I=g/G=g./S=desogus/@???. Presumable this is a problem
at their end (unless someone can say different).

However I would have thought EXIM would have rejected this message with
recipient unknown, instead it sits in the queue being retried.

Thanks for any help.
