The symlink /bin/perl here is very much a local decision, Phil. We wanted
a standard name for putting in #! lines that wouldn't keep changing with
Unix flavour-of-the-month. But /usr/local/bin/perl is the common thing to
find in imported Perl scripts.

As for whether one should ever use /usr/local in Solaris 2... that is a
question which starts flame wars...

I certainly wouldn't recommend /opt/gnu/bin/perl as a standard to anyone!
Indeed, it wouldn't have been done that way here if I had had my way...
