I remember that we had trouble with rspamd already before, as it used to
have an uncommon understanding of how (half open/closed) connections
should be handled. (In case I remember correctly). So my personal
feeling is, that rspamd understands itself as the single source of truth
about networking (among other things.)

But I still think, we should try supporting it. (Or even better, find a
way to use the milter protocol to interface with other externals too.)
