            Bug ID: 2277
Summary: DNS error causes router to fail
           Product: Exim
           Version: N/A
          Hardware: x86
                OS: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: bug
          Priority: medium
         Component: Routing
          Assignee: nigel@???
          Reporter: marc@???
                CC: exim-dev@???

I am using a manual router that looks up the route_list in a dbm file.

One of the entries in this file contains:

example.com : mail1.example.com : mail2.example.com

In this rare example, mail1.example.com resolves fine, but no IP address is
returned for mail2.example.com due to customer screwing up their dns.

The problem is that the bad dns on mail2.example.com causes the router to fail
even though it could have been delivered just fine to mail1.example.com.

I think that a bad dns lookup on mail2.example.com should not cause a failure
if mail1.example.com is deliverable.

I know this is a very rare condition, but I thought I would report it anyway.
