There are many use cases for that.

This is odd, because...

By default, Exim logs everything to three files:

1. Message handling, basic error handling, reception, deliveries etc -
that is, normal operation - to "mainlog"
2. Rejections to "rejectlog"
3. Serious errors to "paniclog".

If you have it running so logs are separated out, someone has done
something to it. Can you post the relevant global section of your
config? I can't wrap my head around how this is happening.
