What version of Exim are you running? I think named acl variables were
introduced around 4.63.

You could try using acl_m9 instead, but if you are running such an old
version, you should really upgrade (Is it a Debian Etch box? Now that
Squeeze is stable, Etch is out of support.) There was a serious security
issue in <4.70 that came to light recently (various distros have patched
earlier versions to fix the bug).
