Further testing indicates that I may have actually had the correct filename,
but wrong permissions.
My transport had
driver = smtp
user = Debian-exim
dkim_private_key = /etc/exim4/file_unreadable_by_Debian-exim_user
Sorry, I can't easily test Exim 4.72 until it appears in my linux distro.
(specifically Debian backports)
Perhaps someone else can test this easily? Just a matter of a "chmod" or
"chown" and checking the logs when DKIM signing would normally take place.
