Subject: [exim-announce] Exim v4.69 release
Exim release 4.69 is now available from the primary ftp site:

The release has actually been available since 20 Dec 2007, however
logistical problems prevented a formal announcement until now. The
released files and their signatures have not changed since the initial

This release is a pure bug fix release (although there is also
preliminary DKIM support available if compiled with appropriate flags).
The documentation has been updated and regenerated.

The major change is an update to the embedded PCRE library in response
to security issues discovered within that library. We believe that these
security issues will be extremely difficult to exploit. Most (if not
all) distributions shipping exim already use their system PCRE library
rather than the Exim embedded version and so will be immune to these
issues (as long as their system libraries have been updated), and with
the next Exim release we intend to drop the embedded library forcing
everyone to use a system or their own maintained PCRE library.

As usual, all changes are in the doc/ChangeLog file.

The primary ftp server is in Cambridge, England. There is a list of
mirrors in:

The master ftp server is now ftp.exim.org although ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk
also carries the same files for backward compatibility.

The distribution files are signed with Nigel Metheringham's GPG key
(address is nigel@???, key id is DDC03262), which is available on
the ftp site and on a number of keyservers. The ASCII signature files
are in the same directory as the tarbundles. The MD5 hash codes for the
distribution files are:

    56e8db1dfe31e0ee4cef85e8940ceedc exim-4.69.tar.gz
    6f29f073328c858d8554b08cc0c3c2be exim-4.69.tar.bz2

The distribution contains an ASCII copy of the 4.69 manual and other
documents. Other formats of the documentation are also available:

The .bz2 versions of these tarbundles are also available.
