It works by spotting dynamic-looking patterns in the hostname. That
hostname looks a bit like 'port01.dslam27.bras29.dslprovider.net'.

As I pointed out a while back, this is a drawback of heuristic-based
guesswork on hostnames - it's often right but the FPs need watching.
