Yes a see.
But with no value (in this case, the value is per default the value of
primary_hostname) or with the same value as primary_hostname, the result
is....
exim4 -bv foo
foo@ failed to verify:
mail domain "" is syntactically invalid

I use an Exim official rpm of debian Sarge (exim4-daemon-heav 4.50-8)...
