People forget about it :-)
(Actually, I have trained myself to consider something being undefined and
something having the value "" to be different, which is why I don't think
of using def: in Exim; but in this particular case def: is closer to the
desired meaning and would be the right thing if Exim distinguished between
undef and "" ...)
