No, I'm not saying that. I don't know anything about the Debian
distribution, but I'm sure it does not default to an open relay
configuration.

Well, I could be wrong that you're currently an open relay - there
are other possible explanations for all those delivery failures. For
example, maybe you're just accepting all local mail then bouncing
invalid recpients and/or identified spam/malware (also a Bad Thing).
Trying to bounce to all those forged senders will lead lots of
failures.
Of course, ISTM the debian default configuration is unlikely to do
that, either. The point is that you need to understand what you are
doing, preferably before you do it.
