The default Exim config (near the top) provides an host list called
"relay_from_hosts". Assuming it's trusted, if you put the IP address of
the sending server in there, it will be able to relay through your Exim
machine. That's a simple solution that doesn't require your programmer to
implement SMTP AUTH or whatever.

e.g., if your program is running on 192.168.0.1, try this:

hostlist relay_from_hosts = 127.0.0.1 : 192.168.0.1
