[Exim] exim with exchange and ldap

Hi

We have made so that exim make from front-end to exchange verifying the
validity of the addresses of destination with exchange through protocol
LDAP.
If the verification has outcome negative it rejects the mail.
What succeeds if exchange it falls?
The incoming mail they come rejected or withheld from exim until when
exchange it returns active?
