I agree. All I ask from an ISP is my own IP. I have everything I need. I
do my own smtp, web, whatever. I don't need some wiseguy on the net say
that I have to use services from my ISP when I don't need them. Granted the
smarthost is generally free with the service. Not all ISPs will change the
PTR record for you (One ISP I used did). Why? It's simple. When/if you
decide to go to another provider, they won't remember this small detail
(others may argue it's not a small detail, but to an ISP it is) and forget
to change it back to what it was supposed to be.

Some ISPs, the changing of the PTR is a 'pay' service. I don't like the
fact that I'm dial249.abington.naxs.com (I think that's right or close), but
it's just something I live with. Why should I pay my ISP more $$ for
something I don't need just to satisfy 1 user?

As did mine, but then again, it's a static dialup.

I did the other day. My ip was listed in easynet's dynablock. First I'd
heard of it. I simply emailed them, and within an hour, I was no longer
listed.
