Author: John Day Date: To: exim-users Subject: [Exim] cannot relay!
I have five RH7.3 servers all with exim installed. I need to use machine #5 as a relay for a script on machine #3. I Have made the changes in exim.conf that I think are necessary, but I still get the following:
(I connect to m5 via telnet from m3).
Connected to m5.xxx.net.

250 ar005.xxx.net Hello ar003 [64.191.35.175]
MAIL From: <johnday@???>
250 <johnday@???> is syntactically correct
RCPT To: <john@???>
550-Host (ar003) [64.191.35.175] is not permitted
550-to relay through ar005.i-netservices.net.
550-Perhaps you have not logged into the pop/imap server in the last 30 minutes.
550-You may also have been rejected because your ip address
550-does not have a reverse DNS entry.
550 relaying to <john@???> prohibited by administrator (failed to find host name from IP address)
WHERE are reverse DNS checks enabled/disabled? This seems to be the problem I have.
