Hi Aly,

I found the following inserted into any part of the conf file worked for me
and percentage hack needs to be commented out (unset).

headers_check_syntax
headers_sender_verify
sender_verify
receiver_verify

you can see the servers activity on rejecting bogus/malformed email
addresses by tailing the mainlog file in /var/logs/exim

the following may help reduces spam traffic if you need more info, you can
find it at www.exim.org before sticking this one in.

# reject messages whose sending host is in MAPS/RBL
# add warning to messages whose sending host is in ORBS
rbl_domains = blackholes.mail-abuse.org/reject : \
        dialups.mail-abuse.org/reject : \
        relays.mail-abuse.org/reject : \
        relays.orbs.org/warn
# check all hosts other than those on internal network
rbl_hosts = !192.168.0.0/16:0.0.0.0/0
# but allow mail to postmaster@??? even from rejected host
recipients_reject_except = postmaster@???
# change some logging actions (collect more data)

in anycase, to get unblacklisted, goto www.orbz.org . there is a link to a
removal there.

hope this helps.

Have fun.

Subject: [Exim] ORBZ and Mail

Hi All,

    I hope that you are well, we have been black listed by orbz, they send a
bogus message as a test of the form relay%orbz.org@??? and we would
like to reject messages such as those as none valid mail as we donot use
percents in email address.

    We tried to use the percent_hack = * option in the hope that our relay
would see that we have no local domain such as relay@??? and out right
reject it. Exim converts it into "relay@??? instead of
relay@???@uleth.ca or even relay@??? which would be a bad address
and exim would reject this message.

    Or if anybody can give me some pointers on how to get un-blacklisted
that would be great. Our uleth mail is of the form
firstname.lastname@??? and some local domains such as cs.uleth.ca may
have addresses of the form lastname@??? . We would hate to perform a
check via LDAP at our relay checking level as our ldap servers are seriously
bogged down or some domains such as cs.uleth.ca have no LDAP system in place
for us to make such a check against.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers,

    - Aly -
