I suspect this might best be a separate book, written by someone other
than Philip; he's probably the only person who can write an "advanced"
book, while quite a lot of us on the list would be able to contribute
to a "basic" book.

How about a third-party project to provide comprehensive tutorial and
introductory documentation? It might be linked from exim.org or
paper-published later on...
